独立プロを立ち上げた、原　將人の初めての作品。ほとんど一般公開されていない。昭和の山村を舞台に戦死したフィアンセを待つ悲恋の物語であるが、それだけではない。起承転結のある既存の映画概念を突き抜けおり、フェリーニのような、ゴダールのような‥‥「人類史とメディア」をテーマにした原　將人の宇宙規模の映画哲学が、さながら交響曲のように展開される。製作期間中、ロケ隊は、４度解散して、５度組み直された。俳優陣の撤退により、主演は、当時プロデューサーとして走り回っていた、愛くるしい監督夫人。鈴木清順監督の最後の映画出演作ともなった。

“SOAR: Wish you’re here” [English subtitles]
The film starts with the image of Emperor Showa. This is the film set up in mountain village but not. This is the film about the tragic love of the girl waiting for her fiancé who was killed in the war bit not. Audience who finished watching “SOAR: wish you’re here” will be confused comfortably, thinking about the meaning of the film. Hara achieved his own world within the category of feature film. Please examine it slowly by laying your body in the Hara world, where filled with beautiful image and music. It is not Goddard, nor Fellini. It is Hara’s pure philosophy of film. During the production, the film crew was disbanded four times and reassembled five times. The actors ran away and the lead was Hara's wife, who was running around as a producer at the time. In addition, film director Seijun Suzuki finally appeared as an actor.

1970年代、国家と社会に全面的に異議を申し立てた全共闘運動が終焉した。当時、映画を志す22歳の原將人は、既成の映画に対して全面的に異議を申し立て、国家を根底から考える映画『初国知所之天皇』を製作した。8㎜と16㎜フィルムを併用し、2 台の映写機を切り替えながら自ら映写する8時間に及ぶ長編作品は、同世代、とりわけ映画を志す若者たちに熱狂的に支持され、伝説のフィルムと呼ばれるに至った。その後、摩耗する8㎜を16㎜に引き伸ばした4時間のリフレイン版を、その20年後には4 時間を左右に切り分けた2時間の2面マルチバージョンが完成した。

With the end of the All-Campus Joint Struggle League movement in 1970’s, which has oppugned nation-state and society, Masato Hara, twenty-two years old high school student then produced “The First Emperor” which raised an objection thoroughly to established cinemas and searched for nation-state fundamentally. This eight hours long documentary film, photographed by 8mm film and 16mm film and are screened with two projectors switches over, is accepted enthusiastically by younger generation especially those who aspire to be film director and become to be called as legendary film.Later, four hours long refrain version of 16mm film, which was blew up from original 8mm film to avoid attrition is produced, and twenty years later, two hours long multi screen version, which was divided four hours version into right and left screens is completed.

幾度となく上映されてきた『初国知所之天皇』の16㎜フィルムは、火事のアクシデントを耐え抜き、奇跡的に映写機にかかる状態で存在している。しかもこのフィルムは、自然現象である火事の炎によって、まるで火の鳥のように、新たなアート生命の産声を上げている。映写機からリズミカルに投射されるこの神秘的な映像を観れば、知覚を超えて魂は静かに揺さぶられ、マテリアルとしてのフィルムと、映画の生命力に、心地よい安堵感さえ覚えるであろう。この機会に是非、映写機から投影される作品をご鑑賞ください。

Burned "The First Emperor" [English subtitles]
The 16mm film of "The First Emperor", which has been shown tremendous times, survived the accidental fire and miraculously did not burn up. Moreover with natural phenomenon of fire flames the film is given a fascinating and beautiful color, beyond the limits that human hands can create. By observing this mysterious image which will be projected rhythmically from the projector, your soul will be shaken quietly and subtle emotion will be surged up.

原　將人（はら・まさと）1950年東京生まれ。1999年より京都在住。1968年、麻布学園高校在学中、友人たちと作った『おかしさに彩られた悲しみのバラード』で第１回フィルムアートフェスティバル東京においてグランプリおよびATG賞を W受賞。10代で松本俊夫監督の『薔薇の葬列』助監督、大島渚監督『東京战争戦後秘話』脚本・予告編の演出を手掛け、天才映画少年と称された。1997年、初の商業映画『20世紀ノスタルジア』で日本映画監督協会新人賞を受賞。2002年、デジタルプロジェクター1台と8㎜映写機2台による3面マルチ投影のライブ作品『MI・TA・RI!』第1回フランクフルト国際映画祭観客賞受賞。63歳で、双子の姉妹の父になる。メタホームムービー『双子暦記・私小説』 第1回東京ドキュメンタリー映画祭グランプリ受賞 (2018)。68歳で自宅全焼の火事に見舞われる中で製作した『双子暦記・焼け跡ダイアリー』は、第3回東京ドキュメンタリー映画祭準グランプリ受賞(2020年12月)。原は「この映画を撮るために火事にあったようなものだ」語る。70歳を迎えた現在も、映画製作の意欲は衰えることなく増進するばかりで、強靭的な映画的存在として活躍を続ける。

MASATO HARA Born in Tokyo in 1950. He has lived in Kyoto since 1999. He was a student at Azabu Gakuen High SchoolI in 1968, he directed “Sad Ballad decorated with Funniness” with his friends, and inaugural won the Grand Prix and ATG Award at the Tokyo Film Festival. In teenager, he was called a true genius boy of movie for his this won. He was an assistant director of Toshio Matsumoto's "Rose Funeral", he script and trailer of Nagisa Oshima's "The Man Who Left His Will”. His first theatrical release movie "20th Century Nostalgia” won the Directors Guild of Japan New directors Award in 1997. His “MI・TA・RI!”: three-sided multi-projection film with one digital projector and two 8mm projectors, won the Audience Award at the 1st Frankfurt International Film Festival. At the age of 63, he became a father of twin sisters. and directed "Twins Calendar / Twin Princess Memories": inaugural won the Grand Prix at the Tokyo Documentary Film Festival in 2018. Next year, his house was burnt down in a fire. He was burned and produced "Twin Calendar / The fire movie diary” won the semi-Grand Prix at the 3rd Tokyo Documentary Film Festival in 2020. Hara said “My house was burned in a fire to make this movie!”. Even now, at the age of 70, his desire to direct films continues to grow. And he is still a strong cinematic symbol in Japan.

初国復活によせて瀬々敬久より

『おかしさに彩られた悲しみのバラード』を高校生の時に見て以来、8ミリで映画を撮り始めた。それほど原將人信者だった。大学生の頃、原將人全作品上映の企画をして上映会を行った。その大きな理由は、噂に高い『初国』が見たかったからだ。『初国』は遥かにその伝説を超えていた。映写機と見る者、その空間、それらが混然一体となったまさに映画体験だった。上映という行為でしか成しえない作品、それでしか享受できない感動。あれ以来、僕は『初国』以上の映画体験を未だに経験していない。

When I was in high school, I watched " Sad Ballad decorated with Funniness "and started making movies on 8mm.I was a real Masato Hara believer.At the university, I planned a screening of all the works of Masato Hara.The main reason was that I wanted to watch the highly rumored " The First Emperor "." The First Emperor " was more than a legend.The projector, the audience, and the space are all mixed together to create a true cinematic experience.His work was made possible by the act of screening.The excitement of the movie that can only be communicated in the screening venue.Since then, I have had no more film experience than "The First Emperor".
