Takuya Nakamura

Composer, producer and Multi-instrumentalist, Takuya Nakamura has been playing piano, trumpet and various electronic instruments for 30 years throughout the United States and the world with a diverse group of artists such as Quincy Jones, George Russell, Robert Wilson, Lee scratch Perry, Cocorosie, David Byrne(Talking heads) Arto Lindsay, Jojo Mayer, Organic Grooves, Bob Moses, and many others. he is playing jazz, rock, experimental music and various other styles of music. In 1990, he moved to Boston to studied Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization, hands-on under jazz legend George Russell at the New England Conservatory of Music(NEC) Takuya also toured with George Russell’s Living Time Orchestra. Takuya moved to New York in 1994 and became an integral and sought after part of NYC's vibrant underground music scene. With his diverse background of music, he has distinguished himself by composing and effectively fusing uncommon and exciting styles of music, leaving audiences and music critics alike ecstatic and excited for future performances. He has played some of downtown New York City’s and Brooklyn's best venues and weekly events, including the legendary "Prohibited Beats" , known as the most eclectic drum & bass / breakbeat party with Jojo Mayer's "Nerve" (resident live band), DJs and MCs ('97-'99 at club “Shine”) with TC Islam (Zulu Nation), Karsh Kale and DJ Swingsett, along with dozens of featured solo and band live sets in NY and Brooklyn. He toured with Nerve every year till 2012 at many festival and clubs in Europe and Asia include Beijing jazz festival(2007) and Japan(2010). In 2012, He toured with DJ Shadow as a opening act with Nerve for Shadow’s US tour.
