Beatrice Dillon

Beatrice Dillon is an artist and electronic music producer based in London. Her practice focuses on sound within multi-channel installation, live performance and recorded material. In 2020 she received the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Composers and Artangel's 'Thinking Time' Award, having previously been shortlisted for Arts Foundation Award, Oram Award and Jules Wright Prize.. Her recent album 'Workaround' (PAN, 2020) was named ‘Album of the Year’ by The Wire Magazine, with previous critically acclaimed solo and collaborative releases across leading international experimental music labels. Recent presentations include: Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art [PT], Tokyo wwwX [JP], STUK Leuven [BE], Munch Museet [NO], ICA [UK], Strelka Inst. [RU] etc. With a background in Fine Art, Dillon has collaborated internationally with visual artists presenting sound at Nasher Sculpture Centre Dallas, Palais de Tokyo Paris, Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève, TATE, Macval Paris, Lisson Gallery, South London Gallery etc. She has been selected for multiple artist residencies including Goethe Institute UK (2021), STUK International Arts Centre (2021), Transcriptions Senegal (2020), Somerset House (ongoing), Abandon Normal Devices (2017) and Wysing Arts Centre (2016). She has mentored on artist development programmes for Royal College of Art, British Council, Goldsmiths, Slade, Jerwood Arts, NTS and Somerset House. In 2022 Dillon produced two large scale multi-channel sound commissions, 'Impossible Ideal Angle' (Haus der Kunst, Munich) and 'AFOAM' (Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto). The same year, she was commissioned by artist and producer Mark Fell to compose new music for leading experimental classical sextet, Explore Ensemble. 'Seven Reorganisations' her first entirely acoustic work explores acoustic reimaginings of digital synthesis, spaces and generative processes. The work was premiered at Sheffield Cathedral (2022) and Kings Place London (forthcoming, 2023). Her remix for legendary Senegalese artist Baaba Maal will be released on Marathon Music, forthcoming 2023
