DJ mew

DJ mew started her DJing career in 2002, primarily spinning hip hop. She served as the DJ for groups like PSG and KOCHITOLA HAGURETIC EMCEE’S, while also providing tracks for rappers. Subsequently, she developed a greater interest in creating a more liberating atmosphere on the dance floor, which led to her current style focused on club music. She builds upon the distinctive grooves of hip-hop, the rumbling low frequencies of bass music, and the musical sensibilities of rock, cultivated through her experiences in bands, serving as the foundation to connect various types of dance grooves. She is the organizer of the event called "Hara Kotsu Funzai”, held at various clubs and small live venues in Kichijoji. Featuring a dynamic lineup of both DJs and bands, it quickly gained popularity as one of Musashino's favorite parties. Since 2011, she has expanded her experience by consistently being a fixture in the scene, playing 5-hour sets and warming up for world-renowned artists. Additionally, she has performed in cities such as Bangkok, Berlin, and her long-awaited destination, London. Immersing herself in the local atmosphere of these different cities, she has deepened her passion for dance music. She has since released mixed CDs including “BUNKER”, a chillout mix, “BANGER” and “ANCHOR” centered around bass music, a style that particularly had a big influence on her. In 2019, she released a cassette tape combining jungle and bass music from the emerging UK label KOOL-AID ON THE TAPES. Her latest work titled “DANCER”, released in 2021, is a mix designed exclusively for the dance floor. Set at a tempo of 120 BPM, it represents her first release within this tempo range, reflecting her frequent selections at various venues. The release party featured her solo all night long set, a set that kept the dance floor alive throughout the night. In recent years, her mixes of bass music infused with sensations gathered during her European tour garnered attention on SoundCloud, leading to coverage in various UK web magazines. Since then, she has been regularly uploading mixes and providing them to radio programs both domestically and overseas.
